In 2001 James Dolenc and partner, Tom Riker, formed jamesthomas, LLC. Today, the boutique company has six full-time and two part-time employees who service clients in both the commercial and residential ends of the field.

James and Tom along with the entire jamesthomas staff pride themselves on bringing a unique, fresh eye to design. Relying on James’ background in commercial design and Tom’s in architecture, the firm strictly believes that they should be compensated for their design talents, rather than on their ability to sell products. The firm’s philosophy is to offer their clients a structured design process complimented with a clean yet sophisticated aesthetic.

James and Tom were featured in House Beautiful’s “America’s Top Young Designer’s” and their work can be seen in such publications as “CS Chicago”, “Chicago Home Magazine”, “Out” and “Chicago Tribune Magazine”. Look for their projects in upcoming issues of “Renovation Style”, “Traditional Home” and on HGTV’s “What You Get For Your Money”.
